## Key Terms - Slope Calculations
- Valley Slope (S
_{v}) - The change in Elevation divided by the length of Valley. It is the slope of a Valley for a given Reach where Valley and Reach intersect for some longer distance. Likely includes several Meanders or step pools.
This image shows other slopes such as water surface and channel bed slopes. - Channel Slope
- The channel along a representative channel distance often of Elevation divided by the length of channel along a channel distance of 20-30 riffle/pool sequences or 2 Meander lengths.
